I had a very productive trip to VinItaly this year. Prior to the worlds largest wine fair, I took a couple days in Tuscany to visit some of the “big boys”. Not only did I get to see some fabulous estates, like Tignanello from Antinori, but I had the opportunity to work on some great deals for you!! Our Wine of the Month in May was a direct result of the relationships we have with these wineries.
During the VinItaly wine fair, I was able to meet with some old friends and made a few new ones as well. It certainly didn’t hurt to talk to some of the finest Brunello producers, which enabled us to increase allocations for Bottle King for some of the finest 2004 vintages.
I was also able to put together a few great opportunities that I think you will love, keep your eyes open, these wines will be arriving early fall, including a Montepulciano d’Abrruzzo (Mirante) that knocked my socks off for under $10.00!! I will update the blog from time to time to keep you informed on some of the other “cherries” that I was able to acquire.
Jim Rilee our Italian and Australian Wine Buyer made his annual trip to Italy the other month for the famous VinItaly exhibition. Vinitaly is the event that more than any other has traced the evolution of the national and international wine system, helping to make wine one of the most captivating and dynamic realities in the primary sector. Visit http://www.vinitaly.com/ for more information on this fabulous event. Watch Jim’s slide show of some of his adventures over there!
